THE PROCESS

Advanced 3D Animation & 3D Modeling is a full-time, two-year program focused on 3d animation and its various specializations, including character animation, modeling, surfacing, rigging, and storytelling through acting and visual composition. The program also teaches students production, art, observation, and critical review to round out their skillset, educate them on how to interact with other disciplines, and enable students to prototype and complete their own animations.

The program teaches observation and critique, creative problem solving, communication, and collaboration.

Students will create a body of portfolio ready models and animation, and work either individually or collaboratively in small teams to produce finished portfolios.

KNOWLEDGE IN MOTION

In year one of the Advanced 3D Animation program at CEA you will study the fundamentals of motion and how that relates to characters, creatures and objects. In the animation world reference is everything and students will study and replicate real world material to gain confidence and develop a critical understanding of natural movement, and how that is manipulated within popular mediums to achieve stylistic outcomes.

THE SOFTWARE

Students will be introduced to the industry leading software, Maya, Mari, Substance, ZBrush, Confluence, Blender, Premiere, and Photoshop. Within these software, students will learn the fundamentals of modeling, texturing, rigging, animation and editing.

COMPUTER ANIMATION PRODUCTION

This term one course will introduce students to working in 3D Animation using industry standard software such as Autodesk Maya, and Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn the basics of modeling, texturing, lighting, and animating to gain experience in the tools and techniques that form the foundation of 3D Animation.
